Concrete Sound Barrier Wall
Our NEW WALL - PremierCrete™ now offers a new precast concrete Sound Barrier Wall for those projects that demand a more substantial wall of greater thickness and larger span. Specifically designed as a Sound Barrier Concrete Wall with the flexibility of easy installation without using specialized equipment. Same texture on both sides achieving a greater community acceptance and helping in negotiating right of ways.
PremierCrete’s PRIMAWALL© with an average wall thickness of 4” and density of 40 lbs/ft2 equates to approximate a STC (sound transmission class) of greater than 40; exceeding many State Department of Transportation (DOT) minimum requirements.
Noise Reflective Properties of PrimaWall
Reflective precast concrete barriers reduce the sound level by blocking the straight line path of noise from the source. The perceived noise does not disappear, but it is significantly reduced due to the increased distance the noise level must travel. Noise can typically be reduced by 5 to 10 decibels, which is often perceived as reducing the loudness by as much as half. In addition, due to its deep pattern design, PrimaWall enhances its reflective properties by minimizing the amount of sound directly reflected to the receiving source.
Our first offering is a stone pattern; however, we can achieve several patterns depending upon the need of the project.
Design Specifications for PrimaWall
AASHTO Guide Specifications for Structural Design of Sound Barriers
Applied loads:
a. Minimum Design Wind Pressure P = 42 PSF
b. Ballast or Backfill Unit VT = 125 PCF
c. Equivalent Fluid Pressure = 41 PSF/FT
d. Minimum Surcharge Pressure = 250 PSF
Sound wall:
a. Shall be constructed with steel reinforced concrete having a density > 40 lbs/ft2 (195 kg/m2).
b. No gaps between panels and at bottom of wall shall be allowed
Concrete Materials:
a. Concrete shall be normal weight concrete having sand and gravel or crushed stone aggregates. Mixed with ASTM-C150, type I or III Portland cement to meet the minimum compressive strength as follows:
1. Architectural Precast Concrete Panels & Posts: 5,000 psi @ 28 days
2. Drilled Concrete Piers and Shafts: 5,000 psi @ 28 days.
3. Mow Strip & non-structural: 3000 psi at 28 days.
Panels and Posts shall be steel reinforced in accordance with AASHTO Guide Specifications for Structural Design of Sound Barriers.
* Color variation can also be achieved through application of surface stains or solid colors are available with the integration of iron oxide pigment mixed with the concrete in shades of earth tones and adobe.
